Visited by MP Christian Porter, Minister for The Department of Social Services, Warren Pearson, Regional Director & Peter Ryan, Assistant Director of Settlement & Multicultural Services. The Minister was there to announce grants for Men’s Shed in WA, his Department did give us a grant of $5000.00 earlier on this year to go towards the Dust Extractor. The Minister & his people were impressed with our shed, especially the cleanliness & positive energy.

Shed Trainer
We now have a dedicated trainer at the Shed: Bruce Carman. Bruce’s role will be to mark of all members who attend the shed as competent at their level of use of tools, power tools & machinery. We will be using a colour coded dot system that will indicate their level of competency to be placed on their name badges.

Member’s Survey
Thank you to everyone that completed our member’s survey. We had a very good response and are now collating the information to see what can be incorporated into the Shed’s programs.
Future Projects
We are now looking to the following future projects:

Inductions
A short induction to the shed needs to happen before a new member can use the workspace of the shed. We are also endeavouring to check all members of as competent in using the power tools & machinery they need to use. We are also wanting to introduce training on equipment as & when we have the people to do the training, this is (work in progress).
